For three weeks you lovely followers that stuck with me saw a stream of queued posts with a disclaimer on the bottom of each that read:
All posts are on queue as I am currently in Central Asia! I will respond to messages as well as post an update when I return in mid July. Until then - be gentle, be patient, be kind. God Bless!
Surprise! I’m back!
Truth is, I have been back for a few weeks. For some reason I haven’t been in the mood to get caught up on the various forms of social media I have myself spread out between.
Central Asia was code for Turkey, and I am looking forward to posting some of the photos that I took while in country!
How did I wind up in Turkey you may ask?
My university sends volunteer teams of students around the world every year on service projects, and this one one of them. For a week my team conducted research in Istanbul and then moved to the Eastern portion of the country for about ten days. We continued our research there, spending the our time in rural villages along the border with Armenia. We rounded out our three week stint back in Istanbul before heading back to the states.
It was incredible.
God worked in amazing ways and taught myself and my team much about His character, ourselves as well as His people. Researching the religion, culture, and needs of an unreached people group was an experience like no other. The memories and lessons Turkey enlightened my life with will not be forgotten.
